Butler claimed the team title at the Redbird Fall Invitational behind a stellar performance from medalist Reese Wilson.

The 54-hole event concluded Monday with 18 holes in Normal, Ill.

TOP SPOT: Wilson entered the final round tied for the individual lead at two-under 142. Her Monday round of one-over 73 included four birdies. Her performance gave her a three-shot victory at one-under 215.

Wilson's three-under 69 in the opening round Sunday tied for the best score of the tournament on the 6,010-yard Weibring Golf Club course. She shot a one-over 73 in Sunday's second round.

Wilson's medalist honors come in her first competition as a Bulldog. She arrived at Butler this semester after spending her freshman campaign at Howard.

TEAM TITLE: The Bulldogs claimed the Invitational crown by a single stroke over Eastern Kentucky. Butler entered the final round with a three-shot advantage and held on to that lead down the stretch. The Bulldogs finished at 898 (+34), which was one shot better than the Colonels (899). Loyola was third at 903. There were a total of 15 teams in the field.

Butler shot 304 (+16) in Monday's final round, following up Sunday scores of 298 and 296.

TOP FIVE: Freshman Kelli Scheck gave Butler a second player near the top of the leaderboard as she finished in a tie for fourth at 219 (+3). Her even-par 72 in the second round featured an eagle on the 453-yard, par-5 18th and three birdies. She coupled that with a 73 in Sunday's opening round and a two-over 74 Monday.

BULLDOG SCORECARDS: Sophomore Katie Steinman, playing in her hometown of Normal, Ill., tied for 36th at 233 (+17).

Lily Celentano finished at 234 (+18) and in a tie for 42nd. Cybil Stillson tied for 60th at 240 (+24), playing as an individual. Sophie McGinnis finished in 64th at 241 (+25). All three freshmen are competing for the first time as Bulldogs.
