The Butler men's soccer team hits the road for the first time this season, heading to Oakland on Sunday, September 4, for a 7 pm kickoff. The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 win over No. 14 Marshall, while the Grizzlies most recently lost to DePaul, 0-1.

Bulldog Bits

• Palmer Ault was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the week ending Aug. 28.
   
• Butler's 2022 schedule includes five teams who received recognition in the United Soccer Coaches 2022 Pre-Season poll (#2 Georgetown, #13 Indiana, #14 Marshall, #16 Providence, and RV St. John's).
• The Bulldogs had three wins over ranked opponents last season that included No. 18 Lipscomb (3-1), No. 20 Providence (2-1), and No. 24 St. John's (1-0 OT).
• Butler is receiving votes (27th) in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll.
   
• Gabriel Gjergji has started the season with two shutouts and, with 18 in his career, is now tied for third on Butler's all-time list for shutouts. He is currently tied with his goalkeeper coach, Assistant Coach Fabian Knopfler, who played for the Bulldogs from 2007-10. With 11 saves in two matches, he now has 253 in his career and has moved into third on Butler's all-time list.
• Jack Haywood assisted on the only goal against No. 14 Marshall. It was the 20th of his career, and he has now moved into a tie for fourth on Butler's all-time list for career assists.
• Palmer Ault has opened his career at Butler with the game-winning goal in each of the first two matches.
• In the win over No. 14 Marshall, the Thundering Herd outshot Butler, 21-9, and had seven shots on goal, compared to one for the Bulldogs.
