The Butler women's soccer team will honor five seniors prior to a match with No. 22 Wisconsin on Sunday, September 4, at 1 pm. The Bulldogs are coming off a 7-0 win over Wright State, while the Badgers most recently lost to Notre Dame, 4-1.

Bulldog Bits
  • Sunday's Senior Day recognition will honor Aliya Diagne, Morgan Kloosterman, Gretchen Skoglund, Gabby Smith, and Katie Soderstrom.
     
  • Butler is receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches national poll. The previous week's No. 17 ranking was the highest ranking in program history. Prior to this season, the Bulldogs were most recently ranked No. 23 in the September 11, 2018, poll, and the previous all-time high was No. 20 in the October 31, 2017, poll.
  • Butler's Aug. 21 win over No. 9 Michigan was the program's second win over a top-10 team in program history. The Bulldogs' only previous top-10 win was a 2-0 victory over No. 10 Texas A&M in 2017. Butler's most recent win over a ranked team was a 4-1 result over No. 20 Notre Dame in 2018.
     
  • Against Wright State:
  • Anna Pierce (3-1) made two saves in the match, notching the second solo shutout of her career.
  • Katie Soderstrom produced the third hat trick of her career.
  • Abigail Isger returned to action after recovering from injury (Western Michigan). She scored her first two goals of the season, and it was her first multiple-goal match of her career.
  • Alli Leonard and Sara Trandji each scored their second goal of the season.
  • Soderstrom, Isger, Alexei Whittaker (2), Becky Dean, Arianna Jalics and Morgan Kloosterman all contributed with assists.
     
  • Soderstrom has moved into a tie for second on Butler's all-time list for career assists, and with 92 career points, has now moved into the top five in that category. She has notched the game-winning goal in all three of Butler's victories in the young season.
     
  • Freshman Talia Sommer, who started in Butler's first three matches this season, is currently on a call-back to Israel to compete with the Israel women's national football team during qualification matches for the 2023 World Cup. She has previously notched seven caps, including three starts.
