#21 Creighton Sweeps Butler at DJ Sokol Arena

OMAHA – The Butler volleyball team took a 3-0 loss at #21 Creighton on Friday night (15-25, 16-25, 17-25). The Bulldogs are now 7-8 on the year with a 1-2 mark in the BIG EAST. The Bluejays improved to 12-3 this season and remain perfect with a 4-0 tally vs. conference foes.

SET 1: Creighton 25-15
The Bluejays broke a 9-9 tie with a 4-0 scoring run to take control of the action in the first set. A second 4-0 run moved the score to 20-12 and Creighton would find Ava Martin for back-to-back kills to finish off Butler 25-15. Martin's final two kills gave her seven in the opening set. BU went to Mariah Grunze 15 times to start the action. She came up with four kills to lead the 'Dawgs.

SET 2: Creighton 25-16
Butler fell behind 10-2 in set two and was not able to recover. Amina Shackelford found the most success against the nationally ranked Bluejays with six kills. Norah Sis led CU with four.

SET 3: Creighton 25-17
The final set was tight at 12-9 but the home team quickly added onto their lead to take command at 20-12. Ava Martin finished how she started by leading the 'Jays with four kills on just eight attempts. Butler was limited to just nine kills, four of which came from Grunze.
 
STAT OF THE MATCH:  Cora Taylor was just two digs shy of a double-double. She ended the match with 26 assists, eight digs, two blocks and a kill.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Amina Shackelford played well for BU with 11 kills (.250%)
- Mariah Grunze also had 11 kills for the Bulldogs to go along with eight digs
- Jaymeson Kinley was excellent defensively with 18 digs
- Brooklyne Darby had the only ace of the night for BU

UP NEXT: Butler will travel to Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 2 to face the Xavier Musketeers at 1 PM.
