The Bulldogs fell to the host Broncos in the first match of the Boise State Classic Friday. It was the first of three matches that Butler will play in Idaho this weekend.
Boise State won the match by a score of 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 25-13.
With the result, Butler is now 4-3 on the season, while Boise State improves to 5-1.

SET 1: Boise State 25-22
The opening set included 12 ties and six lead changes. The Broncos closed the set strong, turning a 19-15 Butler advantage into a 25-22 BSU set victory. Boise State hit .308 in the opening set, which was needed to balance out Butler's
Megan Sheridan, who had seven kills of her own in the first frame.
SET 2: Boise State 25-19
After losing six of the first seven points in the set, Butler fought back to knot the match, 10-10. Boise State regained control at 16-12 and was able to push to the final margin.
Amina Shackelford starred for Butler during the set, with five kills on only six swings. Boise State hit .375 and got six kills from Paige Barsch.
SET 3: Butler 25-22
The teams once again found themselves tied 10-10 before Butler was able to secure six of the next eight points to take control of the set. Butler's defense limited Boise State to a .000 hitting percentage, thanks in large part to six blocks. Sheridan had four kills on five swings, while
Marisa Guisti and
Mariah Grunze each had three kills as part of a balanced attack.

SET 4: Boise State 25-13
The host Broncos closed out the match by taking an 11-4 lead midway through the set and pushing that to the finish line. Boise State hit. 560 in the final stanza.

- Sheridan led the Bulldogs with 17 kills on .333 hitting.
- Jaymeson Kinley had a team-best 18 digs.
- Setter Cora Taylor had 42 assists for Butler. Taylor also had 10 digs to register a double-double.
- Shackelford had nine kills for the Bulldogs.
- Guisti was part of five of Butler's six blocks.
- Maddie Renn also had 10 digs for Butler.
- Boise State had 11 blocks, compared to six for the Bulldogs.
- Jordan Miller led Boise State with 18 kills; she was followed by Lauren Ohlinger (17) and Bartsch (14).
UP NEXT:Â The Bulldogs continue play at the Boise State Classic later this evening. The team's match against Eastern Washington is scheduled for a 9 p.m. (Eastern) first serve. Butler concludes play in Idaho Saturday afternoon against Southern Utah. Â
