@ButlerVB Falls to Host Broncos to Open Boise State Classic

The Bulldogs fell to the host Broncos in the first match of the Boise State Classic Friday. It was the first of three matches that Butler will play in Idaho this weekend.

Boise State won the match by a score of 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 25-13.

With the result, Butler is now 4-3 on the season, while Boise State improves to 5-1.

SET 1: Boise State 25-22
The opening set included 12 ties and six lead changes. The Broncos closed the set strong, turning a 19-15 Butler advantage into a 25-22 BSU set victory. Boise State hit .308 in the opening set, which was needed to balance out Butler's Megan Sheridan, who had seven kills of her own in the first frame.

SET 2: Boise State 25-19
After losing six of the first seven points in the set, Butler fought back to knot the match, 10-10. Boise State regained control at 16-12 and was able to push to the final margin. Amina Shackelford starred for Butler during the set, with five kills on only six swings. Boise State hit .375 and got six kills from Paige Barsch.

SET 3: Butler 25-22
The teams once again found themselves tied 10-10 before Butler was able to secure six of the next eight points to take control of the set. Butler's defense limited Boise State to a .000 hitting percentage, thanks in large part to six blocks. Sheridan had four kills on five swings, while Marisa Guisti and Mariah Grunze each had three kills as part of a balanced attack.

SET 4: Boise State 25-13
The host Broncos closed out the match by taking an 11-4 lead midway through the set and pushing that to the finish line. Boise State hit. 560 in the final stanza.
