The Bulldogs (5-6-4, 1-2-3 BIG EAST) and the Red Storm (8-4-3, 3-3-1 BIG EAST) were scoreless at the half. After two St. John's goals within a three-minute span, Butler scored to draw to within one. The home team then added one late goal to produce the final margin.
