STORRS – The Bulldogs took a 3-1 setback at UConn on Saturday afternoon (23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25) giving Butler a weekend split. There were 44 ties and 12 lead changes in the tightly contested match against the Huskies.
Setter
Cora Taylor just missed a double-double against UConn with 45 assists and nine digs. Taylor added a team-high four service aces, six blocks and helped
Mariah Grunze and
Laiya Ebo each record 14 kills.
Elise Ward also hit double digits with 11 kills vs. UConn while chipping in with 16 digs.
Jaymeson Kinley was the leader of the Bulldog defense with 22 digs and Reece Bates added 10. At the net,
Destiny Cherry had four blocks for BU and
Grace Boggess matched that effort with four of her own.
Doga Kutlu paced the Husky offense with 42 assists and played well defensively with 18 digs. UConn hit .236 as a team and three players in double figures in the kill column.
