The Butler women's soccer team begins postseason play on Sunday when it travels to UConn for a quarterfinal match. The No. 6 seed Bulldogs (6-7-6, 2-3-5 BIG EAST) finished the regular season with a 3-1 win over Creighton, while the No. 3 seed Huskies (9-3-5, 6-1-3 BIG EAST) most recently defeated Seton Hall, 2-0.

In the regular season matchup, the two sides played to a 0-0 draw in Indianapolis. The winner of Sunday's match will advance to play No. 2 seed Georgetown on Thursday, Nov. 2, in the semifinal round. That contest will be played at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.

Bulldog Bits
     (as of 10/26/23)
  • With eight goals, Norah Jacomen ranks third in the BIG EAST and 76th nationally, and her 17 offensive points rank fourth in the conference.
  • Talia Sommer's six assists rank second in the BIG EAST and 74th nationally.
     
  • For the third time this season, forward Norah Jacomen was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week (10/23) after her performances vs. Seton Hall and Georgetown. Jacomen led Butler's offense in matches in both matches last week, producing five shots against the Pirates, with two on goal, along with three more shots against the Hoyas. Her one shot on goal at Georgetown reached the back of the net for her eighth goal of the season.

  • Abigail Isger's goals were her third and fourth of the season. She now has 21 in her career. It was her first brace of the season and the second of her career.
  • Becky Dean's goal was her first of the season and the sixth of her career.
  • Aliya Diagne's assist was her third of the season and the seventh of her career.
  • Amelie Darey's assist was her first of the season and the third of her career.
  • Anna Pierce made four saves in her fifth win of the season. She now has 11 career wins.

    vs. UConn (Oct. 15)
  • Anna Pierce made six saves in the contest, matching her career high. The shutout was her third solo clean sheet of the season and the sixth of her career.
  • Talia Sommer (3) and Abigail Isger (2) each had multiple shots in the match. Six additional Bulldogs produced a shot, with Isger and Becky Dean each having one on goal.
  • The physical contest included 29 fouls combined, though no player was cautioned.
