Bulldogs Score Early, and Late, Earning Draw with Creighton

INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's soccer team scored once in the first half and then again, just before the final whistle, in producing a 2-2 draw with Creighton. After trailing, 1-0, at the half, the visiting Bluejays (3-4-5, 2-1-1 BIG EAST) scored two goals in a three-minute span to take a one-goal lead with just over 30 minutes to play. With two-and-a-half minutes on the clock, the Bulldogs (2-6-2, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) connected on several passes and scored a dramatic goal to draw level once again.

Key Moments
  • 21' | A Creighton cross, from the left to the right side, gives the Bluejays a great opportunity. The shot passes by a charging Caleb Norris, but defender Josh Stewart makes the save to eliminate the threat.
  • 29' | Butler earns a corner kick. Tommy Visser serves, and Henri Kumwenda heads it in, at the far post. The Bulldogs take a 1-0 lead.
  • 42' | On a counter attack, Nick Okoro carries in the middle and lays a ball off to Hemi Nasser on the near-left side. Nasser sends a diagonal ball on the ground to the far post, but it is just a step in front of Donovan Boone who is unable to get off a shot.
    **Halftime**
  • 54' | A Creighton corner kick deflects off Norris and is knocked in by Miguel Ventura. The score is level at one.
  • 57' | The Bluejays play a ball forward to the right corner that is immediately sent across the goal, 12 yards out, to an open Miguel Arilla. Norris charges, but Arilla gets the ball over his shoulder and just under the crossbar. Creighton takes a one-goal lead.
  • 88' | Donovan Boone sends in a low cross from the end line on the right side. Ryan Hannosh is at the near post and re-directs it, between his legs, toward the far post. Jack Streberger has beat his defender and is there. He taps it in to level the score, 2-2.
  • 89' | A long, high service from Streberger on the left side finds the foot of Hannosh, about seven yards out, but a Creighton defender clears the shot away.
