ButlerVB Inks Six Players to the 2024 Recruiting Class During National Signing Day

The Butler volleyball team and head coach Kyle Shondell signed the 2024 recruiting class of six student athletes who inked their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday during National Signing Day. All six of the players will arrive at Butler from the Midwest, including four players who are choosing to stay home and play in Indiana. 

"This class has all the pieces to make a massive impact on Butler Volleyball and the BIG EAST conference. Shondell said. "This group has size, athleticism, volleyball IQ, and a whole lot of energy. Bulldog Volleyball fans are going to love this class."

Jersey Loyer
5'10 Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist - Fort Wayne, Ind.
Loyer played the last four seasons at Concordia Lutheran High School leading the team with 337 kills and 317 digs. Loyer is a two-time Glass Spike Award winner, which is the award given to her conference's top volleyball player. 

She will join her family as the latest athlete to compete in the high-level collegiate athletics. Her brothers both played Division I college basketball with Foster attending Michigan State and Davidson while Fletcher currently plays for Purdue.

Coach's Quote: "Jersey is a smart and experienced player with versatility and fire. She will make an immediate impact on the Butler Volleyball culture."


Lauren Evans
6'0 Outside Hitter - Carmel, Ind.
Evans is currently ranked as the fourth best player in the state of Indiana according to PrepDig.com. The four year-starter was predominantly an outside hitter at Carmel High School, but also got experience as the libero during her sophomore season.

Coach's Quote: "Lauren is a fierce competitor with a high-end work ethic who will fit in beautifully at Butler." "Another one of Indiana's best players making Hinkle their home."


Alaleh Tolliver
5'11 Outside Hitter - Indianapolis, Ind.
Tolliver spent four years at North Central High School and two years at the Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis. Tolliver was a 2022 All-County and 4A All-District selection, and she was named as an IHSVCA Junior State All-Star.

Coach's Quote: "Alaleh's athleticism and energy will be immediate boosts to our team." "We are thrilled to be keeping one of the state's best players at home in Hinkle."
 
Torii Starks
6'4 Middle Blocker - Lexington, Ky.
Starks spent four seasons at Frederick Douglass High School. Starks also played three seasons with the Kiva White Volleyball Club where she was named to the 2021 AVCA Phenom List, 2022 AVCA Phenom and All-City 2nd Team.

Coach's Quote: 
"Torii brings size and physicality to our roster with a love for this game that will allow her to get better and better in her time here."
 
Zoe McDonald
6'2 Middle Blocker - Shawnee, Kan.
The Bulldogs added another middle blocker to the team with 6'2 Shawnee, Kan. native Zoë McDonald. She spent four seasons at Shawnee Mission East High School while also playing for the KC Power club team in 2021.

Coach's Quote: "Zoe is a prime fit for what we are building at Butler. Her passion for the game and skill set in the middle will make hers a name to remember"
 
Aesha Vogt
5'8 Defensive Specialist - Lafayette, Ind.
On the defensive end, the Bulldogs brought in defensive specialist and fellow Hoosier Aesha Vogt as a walk-on. She was a two-time captain at Faith Christian High School in Lafayette, Ind. where she spent all four seasons on varsity while also playing for the The Academy Club from 2022-2023.

Coach's Quote: "Smart, hard-working, and technically sound, Aesha is everything you'd want in a player. She will be right at home at Butler."
