Six student-athletes on the Butler women's soccer team –

Arianna Jalics,
Emily O'Malley,
Anna Pierce,
Anna Schroeder, and
Talia Sommer – have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District®.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.

Dean, a fifth-year student-athlete from Liberty Township, Ohio, appeared in 19 matches for Butler this season, starting three. The midfielder dished out two assists, including one at No. 12 Notre Dame, and her penalty kick conversion was the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over Creighton. Dean is studying to become a Physician Assistant.

Jalics, a senior from Ray, Michigan, appeared in 20 matches for the Bulldogs, starting 15. The defensive midfielder notched one assist this season in a 2-2 draw with Seton Hall and added another, three days later at Georgetown. Jalics is a Professional Pharmacy major.

O'Malley, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Michigan, started all 20 matches for Butler in the midfield. She dished out two assists and produced a total of 28 shots over the season. O'Malley's major is Speech, Language, and Hearing Science.

Pierce, a redshirt-sophomore from Farmington Hills, Michigan, started as goalkeeper in all 18 matches in which she appeared this season. With an overall record of 5-5-6, she produced three solo shutouts along with one combined. With 46 total saves, she had a season-high six saves in two separate matches. Pierce is a Psychology & Criminology major.

Schroeder, a senior from Watertown, Wisconsin, appeared in all 20 matches for Butler, starting three. She dished out two assists, with one coming in a 1-1 draw at Xavier. Schroeder is majoring in Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering.

Sommer, a sophomore from Tel Aviv, Israel, was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection for the Bulldogs this season. She started all 20 matches, leading the team, and finished tied for second in the BIG EAST, with six assists. The center-midfielder finished second on the team with 18 total offensive points and six goals, which were fifth and seventh in the conference, respectively. The Neuroscience major notched a hat trick vs. IUPUI, scoring all three goals for the Bulldogs in the 3-0 victory.
