The Butler women's tennis team began BIG EAST play on Sunday when they faced off against DePaul. The Blue Demons took the 7-0 win over the Bulldogs. 
 
DePaul built an early lead after winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 to earn the doubles point. Butlers' Veronika Bruetting and Delaney Schurhamer defeated their opponents in a quick 6-1 fashion. Natalie Boesing and Chase Metcalf had a lead at the No. 1 to decide the point but fell 7-5. 
 
Singles play saw the Blue Demons take control of the match with Butler unable to register a point. Schurhamer, Metcalf, and Katie Beavin all played their opponents tough and came close to extending their matches to a third set. 
 
Up next for Butler is a meeting with Middle Tennessee at the Butler Bubble on Friday, Feb. 24.
