Landon Moore, a 6-3 guard from St. Francis (Pa.) who earned Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team honors last season, has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Butler program. Moore will have three seasons of eligibility at Butler on the heels of his promising freshman season at SFU.
"Landon has a great feel for the game as a playmaker and passer, and has shown good range consistently at the college level," said Butler coach Thad Matta. "He was impressive last season when St. Francis came to Hinkle, and it will be good to have him in a Butler uniform moving forward."
Moore averaged 13.1 points per game during his freshman campaign for the Red Flash, which was second on the team. He shot 36 percent from three-point range and handed out 3.6 assists per game. Moore's NEC All-Rookie Team recognition capped off a freshman season that saw him named NEC Rookie of the Week seven times; he is one of just six players in NEC history to earn the weekly honor seven or more times.
In the fourth game of his collegiate career, Moore scored 16 points at Hinkle Fieldhouse in a loss to Butler Nov. 17. He went 3-for-5 from behind the arc in that game. Moore also scored a season-high 25 points Dec. 17 on the road at Miami, a team that would eventually make a run to the 2023 Final Four.
Moore started the first 17 games of the season before an injury sidelined him for a majority of the Northeast Conference (NEC) schedule. Moore returned for the team's two NEC Tournament games in March.
Moore scored in double figures in 13 of his 19 games during the 2022-23 season, eclipsing the 20-point mark three times.
The Bloomington, Ill., product averaged 24.8 points per game and hit a school-record 114 three-pointers as a senior at Western Reserve Academy, leading the team to 22 wins.
