Butler Volleyball added outside hitter Abby Maesch to the roster prior to the spring, 2023 semester. The local product from Avon High School returns home after spending two seasons at the University of Georgia.
"We are fortunate Abby has made Butler her home," said Butler coach Kyle Shondell, who took over the Bulldogs' program earlier this spring. "Her presence offensively and high-level experience have already been invaluable to our program."
In her first season with the Bulldogs, Maesch appeared in 26 sets registering 69 kills and three double-digit dig performances. She was also named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
During the 2022 season, Maesch played in 35 sets accumulating 73 kills, 19 digs and 11 aces. Her top performance came on Sept. 9 against Mississippi State, finishing the match with 13 kills.
Maesch was a four-year letterwinner helping guide Avon to a state championship as a freshman. During her senior season, Maesch received Under Armour All-America honorable mention and AVCA All-Region Honors. She also played her club career with Circle City Volleyball Club.
