INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team bounced back from a game-one loss to defeat Villanova, 2-0, in game two of the three-game BIG EAST series. The Bulldogs (15-22, 9-2 BIG EAST) earned their second shutout of the season as the Wildcats (20-17, 6-5 BIG EAST) were limited to only five hits, with no more than one hit in any inning.
How It Happened
In the first inning, an
Ella White (2-3, HR, RBI, 2 R) solo shot over the left field fence gave Butler an early one-run lead.
In the third, White led off with a single. After
Monique Hoosen drew a walk,
Kieli Ryan (2-2, 2B, RBI) hit a double to the center field wall, pushing White home. The 2-0 lead held through the end of the game.
Sydney Cammon (4-5) pitched a complete-game shutout for Butler. In 7.0 innings, she allowed only five hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
Bulldog Bits
- Sydney Cammon's shutout in the circle was her second of the season, as well as the second for the team. It was Cammon's third complete game of the season.
- Ella White's home run was her sixth of the season and the 11th of her career.
- Kieli Ryan's double was her eighth of the season.

Butler and Villanova play the third and final game of their BIG EAST series on Saturday at 12 p.m. Next Wednesday, the Bulldogs travel to Southern Indiana.
