The Butler softball team will compete in its fifth BIG EAST Tournament this week, its third in as many seasons. The Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed, behind UConn, Villanova, and Seton Hall. St. John's and DePaul earned the fifth and sixth seeds in the double elimination event which will take place from May 10-13 in Storrs, Conn.

Butler's first contest will be on Wednesday, at 12 p.m., vs. St. John's. This season's conference series between the two programs, scheduled for Mar. 17-19, was canceled due to inclement weather. The winner of the first-round game will move on to face No. 1 UConn on Thursday.

  • Kieli Ryan has thrown out 14 runners attempting to steal. She sits atop the BIG EAST and is 18th nationally in that category. She is the only player in the conference who has picked off three baserunners.
  • Monique Hoosen leads the BIG EAST (34th nationally) with 14 home runs.  Her slugging percentage (.659) ranks fourth in the conference.
  • Paige Dorsett ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with a .643 slugging percentage. Her 8 home runs rank tenth.
  • Cate Lehner ranks third in the BIG EAST as toughest to strike out. (1 per 16.4 at bats). She is in the fifth spot with 17 stolen bases.
  • Ella White has 30 walks this season, ranking seventh in the conference in walks per game.
     
  • With 14 home runs this season, Monique Hoosen is now Butler's record holder for single-season home runs. With 27 in her career, she is second on Butler's all-time list for career home runs.
  • With 30 drawn walks this season, Ella White is one shy of the top spot on Butler's all-time single-season list.
  • The current Butler squad ranks in the top ten on several of Butler's single-season lists: 1st- drawn walks (161), 2nd- home runs (38), T4th-conference wins (12), 7th- RBI (175), T9th- runs (189), and T10th- triples (8).
