INDIANAPOLIS – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Butler wide receiver Tyler Adams to a contract on Thursday morning. Adams will join the Canadian Football League member soon and begin to prepare for the upcoming 2024 season. The Blue Bombers first preseason game is slated for May 20 and the season opener will follow on June 6.
The Blue Bombers were the best CFL team in the West Division a year ago with a 14-4 overall record. They went 8-1 at home and won the Western Final over the BC Lions to reach the Grey Cup. Winnipeg however came up just short in the championship game, taking a 28-24 loss to Montreal.
Adams was one of two wide receivers to join the Winnipeg roster on Thursday. The club singed Adams along with fellow wide receiver Kody Case. Each player is set to join the Blue Bombers after attending training camp with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent last summer. Case spent his collegiate career at South Dakota while Adams wrapped up his at Butler after transferring from Harvard.
The speedy wideout appeared in 11 games for Butler in his lone season finishing the year with 39 receptions, 689 yards and five touchdowns. He ranked third in the PFL in yards per catch (17.7), fifth in yards, eighth in touchdowns and 10th in receptions to end the season as All-PFL honorable mention. Adams also landed on the 2022 Phil Steele All-PFL Third Team.
