2023-24 MSOC Newcomers

Four New Additions to Butler Men’s Soccer 2024 Roster

Head Coach Paul Snape and his staff have announced four newcomers who are part of the incoming group joining the men's soccer program prior to the upcoming fall season. The current quartet includes a pair of transfers along with two incoming freshmen.

Sam Pitts-Eckersall, Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom (UNC-Ashville)
Jose Angel Luna, Weslaco, Texas (RGV Toros)
Trent Lindsey, Gilbert, Arizona (Barça Residency Academy)

Josemir Gomez
Indianapolis, Indiana/North Central (IUPUI), 6'-1"/170 lbs, F
 
Gomez scored 16 goals and dished out five assists over two seasons at IUPUI, earning All-Horizon League First Team accolades in both 2023 and 2022. After his freshman campaign, he was tabbed Horizon League Freshman of the Year and was named the nation's No. 43 freshman by Top Drawer Soccer. At North Central, the forward was a United Soccer Coaches All-American and a two-time All-State First Team selection.
 
On choosing Butler: "I chose Butler because of the academics, great team and coaching staff, and a very competitive league in the Big East."
 
Gomez is the son of Silvia Trinidad, and Roberto Gomez and has one sibling, Lucia. He plans to major in economics.

Sam Pitts-Eckersall
Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom / Coventry City (UNC-Ashville), 5'-11"/170 lbs, M
 
Pitts-Eckersall played two seasons at UNC-Ashville, leading the team in goals and points as a freshman and finishing in his side's top three in goals and assist as a sophomore. The midfielder was a two-time All-Big South Second Team honoree and was on the All-Freshman Team in 2022. Pitts-Eckersall competed for Coventry City and Solihull Moors FC in the United Kingdom.
 
On choosing Butler: "My main factors were to compete in the big east conference, develop personally on and off the field, and pursue a career in football after earning my Butler degree."
 
Pitts-Eckersall is the son of Andrea and Martin and plans to major in business.

Jose Angel Luna
Weslaco, Texas / Weslaco HS, 5'-7"/130 lbs, W
 
Luna was part of RGV Toros (Texas) history when the club signed the then 16-year-old to a USL Academy contract in 2022. He debuted on the pitch one year later.  Luna represented Capelli USA in Denmark over two seasons, serving as captain the latter year, and also produced an assist in the U.S. Open Cup. He was an honor roll student at Weslaco.
 
On choosing Butler: "The prestigious business program and competitive soccer level was a fit for my future goals."
 
Luna is the son of Jose Luna and Silvia Luna and has one sibling, Diego. He plans to major in International Business.

Trent Lindsey
Gilbert, Arizona / Hamilton, 6'-0"/165 lbs, D
 
Lindsey was a captain for Barça Residency Academy which competed in the quarterfinals of the MLS Next Cup and attained a No. 4 ranking at the U19 level. He was an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.
 
On choosing Butler: "Butler gives a big-school feel, even if it is a smaller school, which gives a very connected school culture. The support of the program from not just the people involved, but from the community as well, is unique. The high standards on and off the pitch allows me to challenge myself and stay focused on my goals."
 
Lindsey is the son of Kristin Lindsey and Jason Lindsey and has two siblings, Finley and Garrett. He plans to major in Business Finance/Entrepreneurship.
