SCOUTING SETON HALL
The Pirates have been on a roller coaster to begin their 2024 campaign. To begin the season, Seton Hall didn't win a set in the first three matches before then winning the next five. They then stumbled into the BIG EAST losing their first two conference matches before getting a 3-2 victory over Providence. While the Pirates would then go on to drop the next three matches, they bounced back on Wednesday sweeping Georgetown to earn their second conference win of the season.

While Seton Hall doesn't have a dominant hitter, outsides Perri Lucas and Reagan Merk are both capable of breaking out with each student-athlete totaling over 140 kills this season. Middle blocker Asli Subasili is also someone to watch out for as she has already reached 27 serving aces this season.

SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
The Hoyas are also part of the bottom feeders in the BIG EAST holding records of 8-11 overall and 1-6 in conference. Georgetown showed promise at the start of the season winning six matches in a row over teams like IU Indy, North Texas, and UC Riverside. However, their season would take a dive as they would lose the following six matches including three conference matches. Their lone BIG EAST win came in a 3-1 victory over Providence.

Despite their struggles, Georgetown's offense has found success ranking fourth as a team in the BIG EAST with a hitting percentage of .226. Berkeley Ploder and Kamryn Lee-Caraccii both have hit over .300 this season and also rank in the top 10 of the BIG EAST.

SERIES DOMINATION
The Bulldogs have a history of success when facing off against Seton Hall and Georgetown. Butler leads both teams with all-time records of 13-7 against the Pirates and 16-5 against the Hoyas. Butler has also only lost one match at home against Seton Hall since 2017.

Abby Maesch has dominated Seton Hall and Georgetown in her career She has combined for a total of 55 kills in all three matches including 18 or more in each match.

SERVING ACES FOR HISTORY
The Bulldogs tallied an incredible 13 serving aces in a single match against Providence last Sunday. This was just the third time that Butler had 13 or more serving aces in a match since 2014 with the last two coming in Sep. 2022 against Providence (13) and Nov. 1 2014 v DePaul (14).

Seven different Bulldogs earned a serving ace in the match with Reese Bates leading the way with four serving aces in the match while Alaleh Tolliver, Grace Boggess, and Elise Ward each added two more.

MAESCHVILLE IS BACK
Abby Maesch has found her groove since the start of BIG EAST conference play. In her first six conference matches, Maesch hit for an average of 3.71 kills per set, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. During the season, she ranked seventh in the conference with an average of 3.36.

Maesch had a busy weekend setting a new career-high with three serving aces in a match against UConn on Friday before then tying her season-high with 17 kills in Sunday's match against Providence.

BOGGESS AT THE TOP
Grace Boggess has been a true force at the net for the Bulldogs this season. Boggess leads the team with 65 total blocks, which is 27 more than any other Bulldog. She also jumped to fifth in the BIG EAST this week after boosting her average to 1.07 blocks per set.

Boggess tied her season-high with eight blocks on Sunday against Providence while also adding eight kills and two serving aces.

UPCOMING CAREER MILESTONES
Elise Ward reached 200 career kills last week while Abby Maesch also surpassed the 200 dig mark in a Bulldog uniform. Looking ahead, Alaleh Tolliver needs just 11 digs to reach 100 career digs.

Destiny Cherry is also just two total blocks away from 200 career blocks while Laiya Ebo needs just nine kills to reach 200 career kills.
