Butler Offense Stays Hot Sweeping Georgetown 3-0

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bulldogs closed out the homestand on a high note after sweeping Georgetown (27-25, 25-20, 25-23) to earn their third conference win in a row. Alaleh Tolliver led the match with 13 kills while Destiny Cherry dominated the middle of the net hitting for .615 with eight kills.
 
Butler 27-25
The Hoyas came ready to play in Set 1 taking an early 10-2 lead. Butler would slowly creep back into the set, cutting the lead down within a point at 18-17 after a 5-0 run led by kills from Alaleh Tolliver. Georgetown would fight back to make the score 24-20. However, for the second match in a row, the Bulldogs rallied back scoring five straight points to regain the lead at 25-24. Abby Maesch would then help complete the comeback scoring consecutive kills to complete the comeback in Set 1.

Butler 25-20
The Bulldogs dominated in Set 2 jumping out to a 7-3 lead using kills from Tolliver and Destiny Cherry. They would continue to pile on the score extending their lead to 16-10 after a serving ace by Alaleh Tolliver. Butler eventually closed out the second set with a Tolliver kill to win 25-20.
 
Butler 25-23
Kills from Tolliver and Laiya Ebo gave the Bulldogs an early 6-4 lead in Set 3. Cora Taylor's serving ace then helped the Bulldogs add to their lead at 13-8. Georgetown would bring the set back to within a point at 23-22, but Butler fired back scoring the next two points capped off by a kill from Grace Boggess to secure the sweep.

Stats of the Match
The Bulldogs dominated the Hoyas on offense hitting for .290 while holding Georgetown to just .144. Destiny Cherry hit for a match-high .615 with eight kills while Alaleh Tolliver led the team with 13 kills while matching the team's hitting percentage of .290.
