The Butler women's soccer team will play a pair of matches this week against the two teams on top of the current BIG EAST standings. The Bulldogs will host No. 20 Georgetown on Thursday evening and then (rv) Xavier will visit the Sellick Bowl on Sunday afternoon. 
 
The Bulldogs (6-3-2, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) are coming off a week on the road that saw a 0-0 draw at DePaul and a 2-0 loss at Providence.
 
No. 20 Georgetown (7-1-3, 3-0-0 BIG EAST) has won four-straight matches, including BIG EAST victories over UConn (3-1), Seton Hall (5-0), and Creighton (1-0). The Hoyas lost to No. 20 Pepperdine and have ties with No. 8 Penn State, No. 25 South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.
 
Xavier (9-1-2, 2-0-1 BIG EAST)*, which is receiving votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches poll, defeated Villanova (3-0) and DePaul (3-0) in conference action and settled for a draw with UConn (1-1). Additional wins include Cincinnati, Michigan, and Milwaukee. The Musketeers also tied No. 4 Michigan State but lost to No. 23 Saint Louis. Prior to traveling to Butler, Xavier will play Creighton on Thursday, Oct. 3.

• Anna Pierce is tied for the top spot in the BIG EAST (22nd nationally) with 5 shutouts.

• Amelie Darey was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after Butler conceded only five shots to Marquette, along with zero corner kicks, and Darey came from the defensive line to knock in the game-winning goal on a corner kick.
• After securing her fourth shutout of the season vs Marquette, Anna Pierce was recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
