Butler Shuts Out St. John’s

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team controlled the pitch in a 3-0 shutout victory over St. John's. The Bulldogs (9-4-3, 4-2-2 BIG EAST) scored two in the first half and added a third goal in the 68th minute. The Red Storm (5-6-5, 0-5-3 BIG EAST) was limited to three total shots.
 
Key Moments
  • 26' | Caitlin O'Malley sends a ball from the left side into the area to Talia Sommer. Sommer maneuvers among three defenders and then passes over to the right side. Leila Lister is there and one-times the ball directly into the net. The Dawgs are up, 1-0.
  • 29' | Amelie Darey carries up the right side and taps a ball to Sommer in the middle. Sommer carries forward and then passes forward to Abigail Isger, who has split a pair of defenders. Isger touches once and then shoots under a defender, back toward the near post. It's a 2-0 lead for Butler.
  • 32' | A St. John's corner kick is headed toward the goal, forcing Anna Pierce to punch the ball out of the area.

  • 68' | Anna Schroeder passes from the defensive end to Sommer in the middle of the pitch. Sommer carries 20 yards and then finds Léa Larouche on the left side. Larouche touches and fires from 18 yards, into the upper right corner of the goal. The Bulldogs now have a three-goal advantage.
