Seminoles Win Sunday Matinee 15-5

TALLAHASEE – Rain interfered with the Butler series at Florida State over opening weekend, but the Bulldogs will be traveling home with an 0-2 record. The Seminoles recorded a 15-5 victory over Butler on Sunday. Jamie Arnold picked up the win while Tyler Banks took the loss.

Florida State scored at least one run in each of the first six innings and would compile 15 runs off 16 hits on the day. The Bulldogs scratched across their first run of the season in the top of the third and added two in the seventh.

Joey Urban walked with the bases loaded in the eighth to plate a run and Kade Lewis would send Ryan Drumm around to score in the ninth off a single to center.

Urban walked twice and had a team-high two RBI's on Sunday. The 'Dawgs got six hits from six different players with Carter Dorighi and Billy Wurch joining Urban and Lewis in the RBI column.

Florida State sprinkled runs across the plate throughout the game and bombarded Butler with five runs in the sixth to take at 13-1 lead. Holbrook hit a three-run home run in the sixth and a pair of singles would follow to extend the Seminole lead.

Tyler Banks took the start for BU but was replaced on the mound after recording seven outs. Banks walked four and struck out three. Only four of the six runs he surrendered were earned.

Ben Whiteside, Cooper Robinson, Simon Linde, and Nate Rosser touched the rubber for BU before the end of the contest. The final inning went to team captain Cole Graverson. As a staff, BU walked 11.

Arnold was credited with the win after striking out nine batters over five innings. He threw 90 pitches and was one of six arms used by Florida State.
