Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles are off to a 5-3 start to the season after winning a pair of weekend series. Opening Day sent MSU to Davidson, N.C. to face the Wildcats. The Eagles won the first and the last game in that series but would quickly settle at 2-2 after a road loss to Kentucky on Feb. 20. The Eagles once again won Friday and Sunday at North Alabama. The team has won two-straight as they added a midweek win on Tuesday at Northern Kentucky.
Â
Three right-handers will start on the hill for Morehead State this weekend. Luke Helton serves as the ace on the staff. The Friday starter is 2-0 this year with a 1.59 ERA. He has 15 strikeouts in 11.1 innings with the opposition batting just .214. Grant Herron will take the ball on Saturday and Sunday's starter is slated to be Callum McGill. Herron is 0-1 in his two starts with a 4.66 ERA. McGill has a 1-0 record and 11 strikeouts spread out over nine full innings.
Â
Colton Becker leads Morehead State with a .455 batting average. A starter in all eight games, Becker has three doubles and a pair of home runs included in his team-high 15 hits. Roman Kuntz and Nick Gooden are also players to watch. Kuntz provides power to the lineup with three home runs and Gooden joins Becker as the only Eagles to hit over .300 this year. Once on base, the Bulldogs will need to be aware of MSU base runners. The Eagles have stole 19 bases on 21 attempts over their first eight games.

Last Meeting
