MOREHEAD, Ky. – Zach Munton and Jack Moroknek hit home runs on Friday, but Morehead State would capture an 11-6 victory at Allen Field in the series opener. The Eagles scored 11 runs off 15 and got a great start from their ace Luke Helton.
 
Helton kept the Bulldog bats rather quiet over seven full innings of baseball. He struck out four and only walked one. BU homers came in the top of the fifth and again in the sixth. Munton hit his second of the season in the fifth on a 2-2 count. His solo shot made the game 7-1. Moroknek's three-run blast came on a full-count in the sixth. Xavier Carter and Kade Lewis each scored on the at-bat.
 
Butler scored one run in the eighth off a Lewis sac fly and their final run crossed home plate in the ninth with Joey Urban picking up an RBI to score David Ayers.
 
Munton and Carter each had two hits in the setback. The Eagles were led offensively by Preece and Kean. The MSU lead-off man went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Kean led the team with three hits in his four at-bats and recorded two RBI.
 
The Bulldogs went to the bullpen early in this one and were forced to use five pitchers in the first game of the weekend. Nick Miketinac and Simon Linde faced the most batters and combined to throw 6.1 innings. Miketinac struck out three over 2.1 innings and Shane Kilfoyle would match him with three.
 
The two teams will meet on the diamond again tomorrow at 12 PM.
