The Butler women's lacrosse team fell 17-10 in a hard-fought game against Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs now sit at 1-4 for the season, while the Buckeyes now obtain a 5-1 record.
The Bulldogs started off the match scoring two goals within the first six minutes of the game. Since those early goals, the Buckeyes dominated with six straight goals throughout the first half before sophomore attack
Luci Selander scored two back to back goals to help the Bulldogs before the second half.
In the third quarter alone,
Kayleigh Colleary, Selander,
Leah Rubino, and
Emily Eckert each scored a goal to help the Bulldogs improve their score 8-9 before the fourth quarter. Goalie
Caroline Smith only allowed for two Buckeye goals in the third quarter. The Bulldog's tough fight came to a close when the Buckeyes scored six straight goals to round out the match.
Selander lead the Bulldogs in Saturday's loss with four goals, three assists, and three draw controls. While Rubino accounted for three of Butler's goals on nine shots, in addition recorded six draw controls. Smith obtained 11 saves in the Bulldog's loss.
The Bulldogs will travel to Davis, Calif. to take on UC Davis on Saturday, March 9. The first draw is set for 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).
