The Butler women's tennis team topped Marian (Ind.) 7-0 today at the Butler Bubble. Prior to today's victory, the Butler University Athletic Department recognized the program's two seniors
Natalie Boesing and
Delaney Schurhamer.
The Bulldogs topped Marian (Ind.) in singles play, clinching six wins. The two seniors each clinched a big victory in singles play during today's match. Boesing defeated Yasmin Imamniyazova, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Schurhamer beat Ana Barbosa Fernandez, 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles spot. This was Schurhamer's fourteenth win at No. 2 singles, she now sits a 14-4 for the spring season. In addition,
Chase Metcalf played a hard-fought match against Michelle Irigoyen. Metcalf ultimately defeated Irioygen in a 6-3, 6-3 contest at No. 3 singles.
In doubles play, Boesing and Metcalf defeated Katharina Bopst and Irigoyen in a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Schurhamer and
Jordan Schildcrout beat Imamniyazova and Barbosa in a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. The pair are now 11-4 at the No. 2 singles spot for the 2024 spring season.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 to take on Northwestern Ohio at Butler's Outdoor Tennis Courts for the program's last home match of the season.
