The Butler softball team travels to Georgetown this weekend for a three-game BIG EAST series. The Bulldogs (17-21, 6-9 BIG EAST) are coming off a midweek, 4-2, loss to (RV) Miami (OH), though last weekend they took a conference series with DePaul, two games to one. The Hoyas (10-23, 1-11 BIG EAST) most recently lost to George Mason, 2-1, and last weekend were swept by Creighton.

  • Ella White leads the BIG EAST (18th nationally) with four sacrifice flies. Addition conference (national) rankings include: 36 RBI-2nd (60th), 11 doubles-3rd (71st), .643 slugging %-4th, and 7 HR-6th.
  • Monique Hoosen is sixth in the BIG EAST with 7 home runs.
  • Kieli Ryan leads the BIG EAST (12th nationally) with 11 base runners caught stealing.
  • Katie Petran is second in the BIG EAST (64th nationally) with 11 wins in the circle.
  • Cate Lehner leads the BIG EAST (49th nationally) with 0.21 sacrifice bunts per game, ranks fourth with 43 hits, and is third in the conference (35th nationally) with 18 stolen bases.
           vs. (RV) Miami (OH) (Apr. 9)
  • Miami ranks fourth in the nation for team batting average (.362) and leads the nation in scoring (9.32 runs/game) and home runs per game (2.94). Butler joined Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio as the only four teams to prevent the Redhawks from at least one home run in a game.
  • Butler also held the Redhawks to a .214 batting average for the game.

    vs. DePaul (Apr. 5-6)
  • Ella White was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for offensive performance vs. the Blue Demons. She was 4-for-10 (.400) with a double, triple, and home run, tallying 5 RBI. In game one, she singled in the tying run and scored the winning run in the 2-1 victory. In the game-three, 7-6, victory, she led the team with 3 RBI, two of which came on a bases-clearing triple.
  • Sydney Carter and Cate Lehner each also had four hits in the series.
  • Katie Petran pitched a complete-game victory over DePaul in game one of the series, posting a 1.00 ERA while striking out four and allowing four hits and three walks.
