INDIANAPOLIS –
Ryan Drumm homered in the first inning to give BU a 4-0 lead over St. John's but the Red Storm would come back to claim an 8-7 victory over the Bulldogs. STJ scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and three more in the eighth to collect their 25th win of the season.
Butler scored four of their seven runs in the first with the Drumm homer and an RBI single by
Kade Lewis. BU led STJ 4-2 after four, but would give up their lead in the seventh. The comeback was charged by Lewis in the top of the ninth as the BU freshman doubled to left center to make it a one-run game. St. John's steered clear of danger with AJ Lausten getting the win. The loss fell to
Cole Graverson.
Drumm and Lewis highlighted the 'Dawgs offensively with the pair combining for six of the team's seven RBI's.
Nate Rosser did the heavy lifting on the mound, going four innings for BU. He struck out four and
Andrew Crumbley had three in 2.2 innings. Graverson got the final four outs for BU.
The series finale will start at 12 PM on Sunday.
