@ButlerWLacrosse Falls to Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Butler women's lacrosse team fell 20-12 to Marquette this afternoon in Milwaukee, Wis. The Bulldogs now fall to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in BIG EAST play. The Golden Eagles now improve to 5-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
 
Midfielder Kayla Kielbasa scored the first Bulldog goal of the match assisted by attack Luci Selander at the 12:30 mark in the first quarter. Selander also contributed a goal in the first quarter. Senior midfielder Leah Rubino scored two goals, one assisted by Selander to help bring the score to 11-4 heading into the half with Marquette leading.
 
Sophomore midfielder Kate Kaptrosky contributed four goals in the second half alone. Kaptrosky topped her Butler career high of goals within a single game. She tied her previous career high with three goal in last week's match against Villanova. Delaney Hudson netted an unassisted goal early in the fourth quarter. Selander and Rubino also played vital roles within the second half of the match each helping get Bulldog points on the board. Unfortunately, after a hard-fought effort from the Bulldogs, they were unable to defeat the Golden Eagles. 
 
Noteable Stats
  • Kate Kaptrosky lead the team with four goals. 
  • Luci Selander record for six points, consisting of three goals and three assists. Selander also contributed four draw controls.
  • Leah Rubino accumulated six ground balls and three goals. 
  • Senior defender Savannah Behn recorded three ground balls. 
  • Junior defender Kiersten Farley recorded two ground balls. 
  • Goalie Caroline Smith accounted for 10 saves and two ground balls. 
 
The Bulldogs will be back home to take on Georgetown on Saturday, April 6 at Varsity Field in Indianapolis, Ind. The first draw is set for 12 p.m.
