INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler volleyball team will play 13 matches inside Hinkle Fieldhouse this upcoming season highlighted by the Butler Invitational running from Sept. 19-21, the BIG EAST home opener against DePaul on Sept. 27 and Senior Day which is set for Nov. 16 vs. St. John's.

Kyle Shondell guided the Bulldogs to 13 victories in his first season on campus. Seven of those 13 wins were recorded at Hinkle Fieldhouse and seven total came against conference opponents.
"We wanted to find a blend of non-conference opponents that best reflected the challenges of the BIG EAST and I think we've done that," Shondell stated. "Butler fans will love watching this team compete in Hinkle and on the road!"
The 2024 campaign will get underway on Aug. 30 this year with Butler participating in the Lipscomb Invite. The Bison will host Arizona State, Belmont, and California Baptist along with BU. The Bulldogs will face Arizona State on Friday, Belmont on Saturday, and host Lipscomb on Sunday.
The Sun Devils are fresh off a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2023. They picked up postseason wins over Georgia and BYU before being eliminated by #1 seed Stanford in the regional semifinal. Lipscomb is another talented team in the tournament field that reached the finals of the ASUN Conference Tournament a year ago.
Week two of the non-conference slate will include three matches against in-state rivals. Butler will stay in Indianapolis for a road match at IU Indy on Wednesday, Sept. 4. That weekend, BU will host Indiana State on Friday and the Sycamores will return the favor the following day in Terre Haute.
A second tournament appears on the BU schedule during week three of the 2024 schedule. The Bulldogs will travel to Phoenix to play in the GCU Classic hosted by Grand Canyon. Action at Global Credit Union Arena will get underway with Butler facing Pacific on Friday, Sept. 13. The Antelopes will host Butler on Saturday and the 'Dawgs will exit the tournament after playing Portland on Sept. 15.
Two of Butler's three opponents in the GCU Classic played postseason volleyball in 2023. Pacific reached 18 wins and were a part of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Grand Canyon notched 23 wins a year ago, won the WAC Tournament, and would move forward to face Washington State in the NCAA Tournament.
The annual Butler Invitational will wrap up non-conference action for the Bulldogs in 2024. Ball State, Bellarmine and Wright State make up the tournament field that will be played on campus from Sept. 19-21.
Butler's BIG EAST home opener will bring DePaul to Hinkle Fieldhouse on Sept. 27. The next day, BU will head to Cincinnati to take on the Xavier Musketeers.
October opens with Butler playing at Marquette and Creighton. Four-straight home matches follow that stretch with the Bulldogs hosting UConn, Providence, Seton Hall, and Georgetown.
The final two matches of October pit Butler against St. John's and Villanova. The conference schedule flips after that weekend giving BU two road matches at PC and UConn before hosting four-straight against Marquette, Creighton, Villanova, and St. John's. The final weekend of the regular season will send Butler to Georgetown and Seton Hall.
