AKRON, Ohio – The Butler men's soccer team combined with Akron for seven total goals on Friday evening in a contest that saw a goal in the first 18 seconds, three penalty kicks, and one player from each side sent off the pitch. The match opened BIG EAST competition for both teams and saw the Zips (2-3-3, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) jump ahead, 3-1, after only 11 minutes of play. The Bulldogs (3-3-2, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) scored two goals before the break, coming back to level the score, but Akron knocked in the game winner in the 56^th minute and held on.

• 1' | Lou-Kent Bosc plays a ball down the left touch line to Josemir Gomez in the left corner. Gomez serves to toward the goal, and Palmer Ault volleys a shot. The deflection off the Akron keeper goes left to Bosc, who sends a ball across the face of the goal to Ryan Hannosh. Hannosh knocks the ball in, and the Dawgs are up, just 17 seconds into the match.
• 7' | Akron throws directly into the area, and a Bulldog defender heads the ball away. A direct volley from the Zips sails just inside the far post, and the match is level at one.
• 7' | Akron crosses from the right side and the ball is headed directly toward the goal. Butler's Caleb Norris extends, low and left, to save the ball, but the ricochet goes right in front of the goal. The Zips easily punch the ball in to take a 2-1 lead.
• 11' | The Zips draw a foul in the penalty area. The kick from the spot is converted, and Akron leads, 3-1.
• 15' | Palmer Ault draws a foul in the penalty area. Josemir Gomez converts. Dawgs trail by one goal, 3-2. 
• 28' | An Akron defender draws his second yellow of the match, so the Zips will play the remainder with 10 men.
• 42' | Joost de Schutter sends a diagonal ball from the left side toward the far post. Henri Kumwenda charges from the right side and maneuvers in front of his defender. He touches the ball down, in front of both the goal and the Akron keeper, and he is able to tap it in at the opposite post. The score is level at three.

• 56' | Butler's de Schutter is assessed a red card and sent off. The free kick service finds an Akron attacker who puts the Zips back in front, 4-3.
