GAME 12: Butler (5-6, 3-4 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE) vs. Valparaiso (2-9, 1-6 PFL)

LAST WEEK: Butler dropped last week's contest against San Diego 29-7. The weather conditions made it a difficult battle between the two sides. Reagan Andrew completed 15-of-23 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown while throwing one interception. He led the Dawgs in rushing with 49 yards on 15 carries. Brady Preston led the squad in receiving with 34 yards and a touchdown. Mason Armstrong paced the defense with seven tackles in the contest.
THE SERIES: This will be the 85th meeting between the two programs dating back to 1927. Butler holds a 54-30 all-time record against Valparaiso. BU has won the last three matchups with the Beacons.
ONE YEAR AGO: Last season, Butler defeated Valparaiso 24-17 behind 232 passing yards from Reagan Andrew and a combined 145 rushing yards as a team. Luke Wooten had a day for BU as the wideout hauled in eight catches for 138 yards in the contest. Justin Anagonye led the BU defense in the contest with six tackles, two of which were tackles for loss.
BULLDOG BLITZ:
- The Bulldogs are 17-6 when playing at the Sellick Bowl since the beginning of the 2022 season.
- The Bulldogs rank fourth nationally in time of possession averaging 33:15 minutes of possession per game.
- Last week Butler fell to San Diego 29-7 in a tough road contest that saw both teams battling the elements through the first three quarters. Andrew completed 15-of-23 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. Andrew also led the Dawgs on the ground with 49 rushing yards in the game.
- On defense, Mason Armstrong led the team in tackles with seven while Dawson Hubbard chipped in four total tackles for BU in last week's matchup. Jackson Stratton recorded one sack in the game.
- Armstrong leads the BU defense with 64 tackles on the season and has 10 tackles for loss. Onye Onuoha leads the team in pass break ups with nine so far this season.
- Mason is second on the squad in tackles with 59 to his credit. Mason and Devaon Holman lead the squad in interceptions with two apiece.
- BU is 22nd nationally in FCS for blocked kicks, tallying three on the season. Butler also ranks first in the PFL and sixth nationally in fewest penalties per game, averaging 4.18.
- Butler was picked fourth in the 2025 Pioneer Football League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Jeremiah Jackson and Danny Orgler represent Butler on the 2025 Preseason All-PFL Team.
- Butler added 29 newcomers to the 2025 roster, including transfers from Ball State, Idaho, Toledo and Tulane.
SCOUTING VALPARAISO
- Valparaiso enters Saturday's game with a 2-9 record and a 1-6 mark in PFL action after defeating Stetson 32-31 in overtime last weekend.
- The Beacons are averaging 20.4 points per game while allowing their opponents to 36.4 points per game.
- Valparaiso has 1,195 rushing yards in the season and has recorded 1,810 passing yards in 11 games.
- Rowan Keefe boasts a 61.5 percent completion percentage as the signal caller for the Beacons, recording 1,369 passing yards and nine touchdowns thus far. Keefe also has 33 rushing yards to his credit and has three rushing touchdowns.
- Michael Mansaray paces the Valparaiso offense with 325 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Ricketti leads the Valparaiso offense in receiving yards with 443 to his credit on 41 catches.
- Anthony Feltrinelli leads the Valparaiso defense with 93 total tackles, 7.5 of which were tackles for loss. Nic Lendino and Mark Johnson pace the defense with two interceptions apiece this season.
