Four Butler Volleyball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators

Four student-athletes on the 2025 Butler volleyball team – Kaylee Finnegan, Zoe McDonald, Ellery Rees, and Elise Ward– have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District®.  
 
The 2025 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 13, 2026.
 
Finnegan, from Toledo, Ohio, played in 29 matches this season with 24 starts. In 103 total sets, the setter led the team with 788 assists. She added 29 kills and 12 service aces and finished with 51.0 points.
 
McDonald, from Prairie Village, Kan., started all 25 matches in which she appeared. In 86 total sets, the middle blocker notched 134 kills, leading the team with a .242 hitting percentage. Her 86 total blocks contributed to her 183.5 total points.
 
Rees, from Chicago, Ill., played in 28 matches with 23 starts. In 84 total sets, the middle blocker notched 100 kills and had a pair of service aces. With 77 total blocks, she finished the season with 144.5 points.
 
Ward, from Orland Park, Ill., started 26 of the 29 matches in which she played. The outside hitter led Butler with 369.0 points coming from 308 kills, 41 aces, and 36 total blocks.
