The Butler softball team travels to (rv) Indiana for a midweek non-conference game on Tuesday. The Bulldogs (14-5, 3-0 BIG EAST) are coming off a three-game series sweep vs. DePaul. The Hoosiers (17-5, 0-0 Big Ten), who are receiving votes in the current ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings, most recently went 5-0 in their own Hoosier Classic.

  • Cate Lehner leads the BIG EAST (47th nationally) with a .458 batting average, and she is third (45th) with 33 hits. Her 16 stolen bases also lead the conference (15th).
  • Ella White leads the BIG EAST (31st nationally) with a .565 on base percentage, and she is first (31st) with 1.26 RBI per game. She is third with a .412 batting average, with a .765 slugging percentage.
  • Makena Alexander is atop the BIG EAST (83rd nationally) with six home runs. She is second in the BIG EAST (71st) with a .789 slugging percentage and fourth with 23 RBI.
  • Gwen Baker ranks third in the BIG EAST (85th nationally) with 6 victories and is fourth (78th) with a 1.76 ERA.

  • Makena Alexander was 7-for-10 (.700) with two doubles, two home runs, and ten RBI.
  • Sydney Carter and Ella White were both 6-for-9 (.667). White had 7RBI.
  • Gwen Baker picked up two wins in two starts. She produced a 1.56 ERA over 9.0 innings.
  • Butler's 21 runs in game one was a program record vs. DI opponents. The previous high was 15 runs.
  • In the game three, 14-1, win, the Bulldogs had 14 hits which were all singles.
     
  • Makena Alexander was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after dominating the series sweep over DePaul, going 7-for-10 with two doubles, two home runs, and 10 RBI.
  • Gwen Baker has been chosen Freshman of the Week for the second straight week.  She picked up two wins in two starts in the circle with a combined ERA of 1.56. Over 9.0 innings, she allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
     
  • Butler's 2025 schedule includes five teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs will face UAlbany (2/28), Indiana (3/11), Dayton (3/25), and Miami (OH) (4/9) on the road and will host Villanova for a BIG EAST series Apr. 17-19.
