BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Butler softball team traveled south to take on (rv) Indiana in a midweek, non-conference contest. The Hoosiers (18-5, 0-0 Big Ten) scored in three of the four innings in which they batted, taking a 13-0, five-inning, victory over the Bulldogs (14-6, 3-0 BIG EAST).
Indiana got its offense going early, using a three-run home run in the bottom of the first to jump in front.
In the third, the Hoosiers used a home run, two doubles, and a single to add five more runs and force a Butler pitching change. The score was 8-0 after three complete.
One inning later, Indiana connected on a double and three singles and drew two walks to put up five addition runs.
Katie Petran (3-2) started in the circle for Butler and took the loss. In 2.1 innings she allowed eight runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Gwen Baker (1.2 IP, 5R, 4ER, 4H, 3BB, 2K) entered in the bottom of the third, down 8-0 and finished the game.

- Four Bulldogs produced a hit on the day, with Leigh Vande Hei notching a pair.
