MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Butler softball team suffered losses to Binghamton and Bellarmine on the final day of the Make-It-Happen Games in Florida. In game one, the Bulldogs (11-5, 0-0 BIG EAST) scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the Bearcats (10-5, 0-0 America East) but lost on an eighth-inning home run. In game two, the Knights (4-7, 0-0 ASUN) hit a lead-off home run and maintained the lead the entire game.
Game 5: Binghamton 7, Butler 5 (8 innings)
In the third inning,
Sydney Carter reached on a single, and
Hailey Conger brought her home with a two-RBI home run to center field. Butler took the early, 2-0, lead.
Binghamton used a three-run home run in the fourth and a two-run home run in the fifth to build a 5-2 lead.
In the sixth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with no outs.
Paige Dorsett hit a double that brought two home. One batter later,
Olivia Moxley bunted and
Ella White slide across. The game was tied, 5-5, through seven.
In the top of the eighth, a home run by the Bearcats provided a two-run cushion. In its final at bat, Butler was unable to generate any runs to extend the game.
Katie Petran (3.2-IP, 3R, 2H, 3BB, K) started in the circle for Butler and lasted into the fourth.
Rylyn Dyer (1.1-IP, 2R, 2H, BB, 2K) provided relief into the sixth.
Kayla Noerr (0-1) entered in the sixth with one on, nobody out, and down 5-2. The Bulldogs tied the game and Noerr produced eight outs before giving up the game-winning home run in the eighth. In 3.0 innings, she allowed two runs (1 earned) on one hit and one walk with one strikeout.
Game 6: Bellarmine 5, Butler 1 (7 innings)
Bellarmine hit a lead-off home run to start the game, adding on one more for a 2-0 lead that held through four complete.
In the fifth, the Knights used three hits and three errors to build the lead to 5-0.
Butler picked up its only run in the sixth.
Olivia Roberts hit a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed
Cate Lehner to score from third.
Gwen Baker (4-2) started in the circle for the Bulldogs and took the loss. In 4.2 innings, she allowed five runs (only two earned) on six hits and a walk.
Kayla Noerr (1.1-IP, K) provided relief and finished the game.

- Hailey Conger's home run vs. Binghamton was a career first.
- Paige Dorsett's double vs. Binghamton was her third of the season and the 25th of her career.
- Cate Lehner's stolen base vs. Binghamton was the 54th of her career, giving her sole possession of the third spot on Butler's All-Time list.

Butler is scheduled to host its first home game on Wednesday, March 5, when Indiana State travels to Indianapolis. Next weekend, BIG EAST play will begin when DePaul plays a three-game series on the Butler campus from Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9.
