Butler Falls in First Match of the Week Against UConn

INDIANAPOLIS, IND.—The Butler women's lacrosse team completed the first of two matches this week at home on Tuesday afternoon against UConn. Makenna Evans scored her first career hat trick to bring her season total to nine goals.

The Bulldogs struck first after a goal by Elise Latham gave them an early 1-0 lead. The Huskies would fight back scoring six unanswered goals. Makenna Evans then caught fire netted back-to-back goals to cut the lead to within three at 6-3. UConn regained the momentum before the end of the half scoring seven more goals to take a 13-3 lead.

Butler scored to start the second half with Emma Palmer netting her sixth goal of the season. A few minutes later Evans would reach the hat trick after earning her third goal of the game. UConn would control the rest of the second half eventually winning the match 17-7.

  • Elise Latham continued to dominate on offense adding two goals and an assist
  • Sophia Knoblock scored her first goal of the season while collecting two shots
  • Alyssa Lentz made 11 saves and scooped up a ground ball.

Up Next
The Bulldogs will return to Varsity Field on Sunday to play a non-conference game against UC Davis beginning at 12 PM.
