Yame Butler, who averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game at Drexel last season, will join the Butler Basketball program for his final season of eligibility.
Â
Butler, a 6-5 guard from Greenbelt, Md., has signed an athletic aid agreement for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Â
"Yame brings both experience and physicality to our program," said Butler coach Thad Matta. "He has the ability and willingness to guard multiple positions and rebound. Offensively, he is aggressive in getting downhill to both score at the rim and get to the free throw line. Yame will be impactful for us both on the court and in the locker room, and we're excited to get him on campus."
Â
Butler started 32 of his 33 games and averaged 31.3 minutes per contest during the 2024-25 season. He finished second on the Drexel roster in scoring, steals, field goal percentage and three-point field goals; Butler was third on the Dragons in rebounding and assists. His production drastically increased as Butler took on a larger role at Drexel this season. He averaged 6.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season in 15 minutes per contest.
Â
Butler will join the Bulldogs program after playing three seasons at Drexel. He began his career at Fordham. Butler is the second transfer addition who has been announced for the Bulldogs' 2025-26 roster, joining Horizon League leading scorer Jalen Jackson from Purdue Fort Wayne. Â
Â
Additional updates on both Butler's 2025-26 roster and the team's non-conference schedule will be announced soon.
