Butler outfielder Cate Lehner has been selected by the BIG EAST as its Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. She was chosen for her performance during last weekend's three-game series at Seton Hall.
Lehner went 10-for-13 (.769) and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases as Butler took the weekend's series from the Pirates, 2-1. Her 10 hits and six stolen bases led the BIG EAST. In game one (W, 5-3), the junior logged four hits and stole three bases to break the Bulldogs' single-season hits (64) and stolen bases (36) record. In game three [L, 5-6 (8)], Lehner delivered four hits to break the BIG EAST single-season record, resetting the mark to 43 in-conference hits.
The Bulldogs (25-20, 14-10 BIG EAST) finished conference play last weekend, clinching a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. Butler plays at IU Indy on Tuesday, in a mid-week non-conference contest, and will then prepare for the postseason.
