William Zegarski Punches Ticket to Eugene on First Night of NCAA East First Round

| By:
William Zegarski advances to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the men's 10,000 meters after an elite performance on Wednesday night at the NCAA East First Round.

After more than a three hour rain delay at the track in Jacksonville, Fla., the race did not toe the line until after 12:55 AM ET. Zegarski powered through the adversity to secure one of the 12 coveted spots in the NCAA's elite field after placing 11th with a mark of 29:10.03.

Butler extends their streak to five consecutive years of having representation at the NCAA finals in the 10K. The Bulldogs are in elite company with Alabama, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State as the only four schools to have reached this feat since 2021.

Furman's Dylan Schubert won the event with a time of 29:00.47.

Jack McMahon ran a time of 30:16.80 to take 38th out of the 48 competitors.
