Men's soccer head coach
Paul Snape and his staff have released a challenging slate of fixtures for the fall 2025 season. The 19-game schedule begins with a pair of exhibition matches and includes ten home contests at the Sellick Bowl and Varsity Field. The Bulldogs will play six consecutive matches from Sept. 5-27 vs. teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
In their season opener, the Bulldogs will travel to Michigan State (Aug. 10) for the first of the two pre-season matches. In a subsequent exhibition, Marion University (Aug. 16) will make the short trip to Butler's campus.
The nine-game non-conference portion of the regular-season schedule is highlighted by matches vs. four 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifiers: Western Michigan, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, and Evansville. Of those, the Bulldogs are hosting the Broncos (Sept. 5) and the Buckeyes (Sept. 13). Additional non-conference home dates are Western Illinois (Aug. 21), Bowling Green (Aug. 24), Detroit Mercy (Aug. 28), and IU Indy (Sept. 1).
The 2025 season will be the third in which the BIG EAST is divided into two six-team divisions. The East Division consists of Connecticut, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova, while the Midwest Division includes Akron, Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Marquette and Xavier. Each team plays all five divisional members once each season, in addition to three cross-over matches.
The eight-match BIG EAST schedule begins on Friday, Sept. 19, when the Bulldogs host Georgetown. Then, on Saturday, Sept. 27, Akron will visit the Butler campus. This weekend will be Alumni Reunion Weekend and aligns with campus homecoming activities. Also scheduled for home contests are Marquette (Oct. 11) and Creighton (Oct. 25). With the additional road opponents consisting of DePaul, Xavier, UConn, and St. John's, Butler will not face Providence, Seton Hall, or Villanova during the 2025 regular season.
A few days after the conclusion of the regular-season schedule, the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament will begin. The top four teams in the league standings will battle in search of the conference's automatic entry into the NCAA Tournament.
Entering his 15
th season, Coach Snape and his staff are looking to build on the success the program has previously produced. The Bulldogs have qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament six times since 2016 and competed in the NCAA Tournament in three of those seasons. The 2017 side finished atop the BIG EAST standings and won two matches in the NCAA Tournament.
The coaching staff is continuing to put the finishing touches on the full 2025 roster. Additional student-athletes who are joining the program will be announced in coming weeks.
