Five Bulldog men earned 2025 Academic All-District honors as announced by College Sports Communicators this week.
Â
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom.
Â
The five Butler men to earn the recognition for their performances during the cross country and/or track and field seasons were
Matthew Forrester,
Austin Gabay,
Jesse Hamlin,
Luke Henseler, and
William Zegarski.
Â
In Cross Country, a runner must have obtained a Top 50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA regional competition. In track, an individual must have had a Top 50 regional ranking in single event (indoor or outdoor). One of those accomplishments must be paired with the GPA requirement to be recognized with Academic All-District honors.
Zegarski won the NCAA Great Lakes regional title during the 2024 cross country season and entered the NCAA East First Round in track with the 41st-best time in the 10,000 meters. He improved on that position in earning All-America honors at the national meet. Zegarski also finished 17th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, earning All-America honors.Â
Gabay (eighth) and Henseler (50th) also earned their honors with their respective performances at the NCAA Great Lakes regional in cross country.
Forrester (ninth) and Hamlin (34th) earned recognition based on their times in qualifying for the 5,000 meters at the NCAA East First Round. Forrester, like Zegarski, went on to advance to Eugene and earn All-America honors in the event.Â
