Butler Announces BIG EAST Portion of 2025-26 Men's Basketball Schedule

| By:
The BIG EAST portion of Butler's men's basketball schedule features six weekend home contests, beginning with a Saturday, Dec. 13 match-up at Hinkle Fieldhouse against Providence.

The entire 2025-26 BIG EAST Conference men's basketball schedule was announced Thursday, a 110-game double round-robin slate for a sixth straight year. Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.

Additional notes on Butler's 2025-26 BIG EAST schedule:
  • Butler's home BIG EAST schedule includes four Saturday tips, one Friday night game, one Sunday game, two on Tuesdays and two on Wednesdays.
  • Butler's BIG EAST schedule is largely balanced; the Bulldogs will only complete the home-and-home series with one conference opponent (St. John's on Jan. 6 and Jan. 28) prior to playing a BIG EAST foe for the first time (Georgetown on Jan. 31).
  • Butler and Marquette play twice within a five-game stretch for the Bulldogs, with the first meeting at Hinkle Fieldhouse Friday, Jan. 23 followed by a match-up in Milwaukee Feb. 7.
  • Butler's BIG EAST opener against Providence Saturday, Dec. 13 is the first conference game of the year. The next BIG EAST games are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 16 – with Butler playing at Connecticut as one of the two games that night.

Butler enters the 2025-26 season off an appearance in the inaugural College Basketball Crown. Coach Thad Matta's Bulldogs have added five impact transfers in Michael Ajayi (Gonzaga), Yame Butler (Drexel), Jalen Jackson (Purdue Fort Wayne), Drayton Jones (South Carolina State), and Yohan Traore (SMU). That group joins returners Finley Bizjack, who averaged 10.3 points per game for the Bulldogs last season; Jamie Kaiser Jr., who missed the entire 2024-25 season with an ankle injury; and Evan Haywood, who started both College Basketball Crown games. Butler also welcomes a Top 25 recruiting class.

BIG EAST and Television Information:
The upcoming season marks the first of a six-year media agreement, which will span from 2025-26 through 2030-31, encompassing coverage on FOX Sports (FOX, FS1), NBC Sports (NBC, Peacock), and TNT Sports (TNT, TBS, truTV and Max).  The agreement will provide major national broadcast, cable, and direct-to-consumer streaming coverage of BIG EAST men's and women's basketball games.

FOX Sports, the BIG EAST's television partner for the last 12 years, will continue as the conference's lead network provider, with NBC Sports and TNT Sports also providing comprehensive BIG EAST basketball coverage:
  • FOX Sports will feature at least 80 BIG EAST men's and women's basketball contests across the regular season and postseason beginning in 2025-26. In addition, the FOX broadcast network will remain the home of the BIG EAST Men's Tournament Final through 2031.
  • Peacock and NBC Sports will present more than 60 men's and women's regular season and BIG EAST Tournament games.  Peacock launched its coverage of BIG EAST men's basketball in 2024-25 with a package of 25 regular season games and five early round and quarterfinal conference tournament games.
  • TNT Sports will feature more than 65 regular season BIG EAST men's and women's basketball games airing on TNT – as its primary network – along with TBS, truTV and Max, beginning with the 2025-26 season.

For the 44th consecutive year, the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden will be played March 11-14. It is college basketball's longest running conference postseason tournament played at the same venue.
