Butler Set to Compete in the Refreshment Services Pepsi Sycamores Volleyball Invite

This weekend Butler will compete in the Refreshment Services Pepsi Sycamores Volleyball Invite, hosted by Indiana State.

Butler Recently
The Dawgs sit at 4-3 on the season and are 1-2 in matches away from Hinkle Fieldhouse. Last weekend at the Iowa Invitational, Butler went 1-2 picking up a 3-0 win over Loyola Chicago. Tuesday evening, Butler welcomed #14 Purdue into Hinkle in the Shondell Showdown. In the first ever Division 1 volleyball match where a father and son were coaching against each other, Dave Shondell and Purdue won three extremely close sets. 

Alaleh Tolliver who set a new career high in kills (24)  earlier in the season leads the Bulldogs with 98 kills on the season. Tolliver was an All-Tournament team representative in both of the tournaments Butler has played in and was named Big Dawg Kickoff MVP. Elise Ward and Sawyer Jones each have over 60 kills so far this season. Last weekend Jones accounted for 17 kills in the Dawgs match against Illinois State, which set a new career high for her. Throughout the early going, it has been Kaylee Finnegan who has set up the offensive firepower for the Dawgs. Finnegan has 264 assists so far this season and was named BIG EAST Setter of the Week on September 2nd. Defensive wise for Butler, Lauren Evans leads the team in digs with 116 and Zoe McDonald leads the team in blocks with 30.  

  
Scouting Montana 
Montana enters the event with a 3-3 record and are 0-3 in matches away from home. After dropping their first three matches of the season, the Grizzlies won all three matches they competed in last week led by Alexis Betezel who was named Big Sky Conference's co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon. Betezel is the defensive anchor for Montana, she leads the team in digs with 98. Offensive wise, Grace Cagle is the team's setter. Cagle has tallied 213 assists so far this season and Delaney Russell leads the Grizzlies in kills with 66. Montana will play Butler at 2:30pm ET.  

Scouting Eastern Illinois 
Eastern Illinois will enter the weekend with an undefeated 5-0 record on the season. For the Panthers, Lilli Amettis was named the Saluki Bash Tournament MVP. Ammettis totaled 38 kills, 7 blocks, and 41 digs in 11 sets of action. Catalina Rochaix mostly leads the offensive attack for Eastern, she has 154 assists so far this season. Kill wise for the Panthers, they are well balanced. Four athletes have at least 25 kills on the season. Destiny Walker leads the claw of Panthers in kills with 63. Butler and Eastern Illinois will face off Saturday at 2:30pm ET.

Scouting Indiana State 
The Sycamores will enter the event sitting at 2-4 on the season. Chloe Gilley and Hadley Hardersen each have over 60 digs for Indiana State. Offensively, Emily Weber who has 126 assists on the year is normally setting up Kira Holland and Ava Robart for kills. Holland and Robart each have over 60 kills a piece for the Sycamores. Indiana State will host Butler at 7pm ET on Saturday.
