Terre Haute, Indiana- The Montana Grizzlies defeated the Butler Bulldogs in 3 sets, Friday afternoon. This was Butler first of three matches at the Refreshment Services Pepsi Sycamores Volleyball Invite.

• Alaleh Tolliver led Butler in kills this afternoon with 13. 
• Tolliver and Aesha Vogt each had 2 services aces on the match
• Lauren Evans led the team in digs with 12. 

Set 1 Montana (25-19)
Set 1 belonged to the Grizzlies. Montana was able to mount an early 11-6 lead. They were able to hold their lead until it was 17-13 and Butler went on a mini 4-0 run. Kills from Elise Ward and Carly Slusser, as well as a service ace from Aesha Vote helped the Dawgs tie up the set at 17. At that moment, Montana called a timeout and was able to regroup. The Grizzlies closed the set on an 8-2, taking set 1 25-19. 

Set 2 Montana (25-17)
Set 2 began with the teams trading points back and forth. A kill by Alaleh Tolliver and a service ace from Aesha Vogt allowed the Dawgs to trail just 6-7 early on in the second set. The Grizzlies were able to build and hold a lead throughout the set. Alaleh Tolliver was able to fight off a set point making the second set margin eight. 

Set 3 Montana (25-12)
The third set saw more strong play from the Grizzlies. Early in the set, Alaleh Tolliver recorded a kill and then two straight service aces giving Butler an early set 3 lead. An 11-1 run for Montana allowed them to build a 16-6 lead that they were able to hold onto, winning the third set 25-12 and the match 3-0.

The Dawgs will play two matches tomorrow. They will play Eastern Illinois at 2:30pm ET and then will play Indiana State at 7pm ET.
