Butler's season is off to a strong start as the Bulldogs hold the 36-hole lead after the opening day of the 2025 Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate hosted by Oakland University.
 
Four Bulldogs are tied for 12^th or better. Butler posted rounds of 287 and even-par 284 Saturday. The 284 was the best team round of the afternoon. Butler's 36-hole total of 571 is seven shots better than Toledo (578); Cleveland State is third (581). There are 12 teams in the field.
 
Behind a pair of even-par 71s, Leo Zurovac is tied for sixth and the leading Bulldog heading into Sunday. Each of his rounds included four birdies on the 7,204-yard Katke Course in Rochester, Mich.
 
Sutto is one shot back of Zurovac, tied for eighth at 143 (+1). Derek Tabor and freshman Marius Reiersen are tied for 12^th at two-over 144.
 
Green Bay's Mason Haupt and Notre Dame's Peyton Blackard are tied for the individual lead at three-under 139 after Saturday's play.
 
A final 18 holes is scheduled for Sunday.
