Butler Prepared to Take on No. 16 Creighton in Omaha

About Butler
The Dawgs will enter their match against the Blue Jays with a 7-7 record and 0-1 in BIG EAST play. This past Wednesday, Butler fell to Xavier in three sets. 

Bulldog Bites
  • Throughout non conference play, Alaleh Tolliver led the BIG EAST in total kills with 201 and was second in the conference in kills per set. 
  • Kaylee Finnegan has 504 assists through the first 14 matches. Finnegan led the conference in total assists throughout the non-conference season.
  • Lauren Evans leads the team in digs. 227 total and 4.65 digs per set. Evans was third in the BIG EAST throughout non-conference play in digs per set. 
  • Elise Ward and Sawyer Jones each scored over 100 kills throughout non conference play. 
  • Butler is 1-2 in five set matches. 
The History 
Butler defeated Creighton in their first-ever Big East match in 2013. Since then, the Blue Jays have gotten the best of the Dawgs 22 straight times.

Scouting No 16 Creighton
The Blue Jays have won 11 straight regular-season Big East titles and captured the Big East tournament championship five consecutive years. Coming into this weekend, Creighton has won 31 straight regular-season conference matches. A win Friday night against Xavier would set a program record.

Under first-year head coach Brian Rosen, Creighton finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 7-5 record, with four of those losses coming against top-five ranked teams in the nation. Through 12 matches, senior Ava Martin leads the team with 176 kills. Senior Annalea Maeder serves as the orchestrator of the Blue Jays' offense, recording 433 assists this season. Defensively, Saige Damrow leads Creighton with 170 digs, while Eloise Brandewie tops the Blue Jays with 41 blocks.
