MILWAUKEE – The Butler men's soccer team traveled to Marquette on Saturday evening and left with its first conference loss of the season, dropping the match 4-0 to the Golden Eagles. Marquette (8-4-1, 1-3-0 BIG EAST) converted a penalty kick early in the contest and then added three goals in a 4-minute, 29-second span in the second half. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-7-3 but have two points on the table with a 0-1-2 record in BIG EAST competition.
On the Record with Head Coach Ian Sarachan
"Nobody in our locker room is happy with what happened on the field tonight. That performance was not representative of Butler soccer and the type of team we are building here. We will continue to challenge the players every day to better understand the demands of playing at a high level. There are no easy games in the BIG EAST. Villanova will prove its own type of challenge, and we expect a group that is ready for it. We will come out fighting on Friday night."
Bulldog Bits
