Butler and UConn Settle for Draw

STORRS, Conn. – The Butler women's soccer team withstood an early onslaught and generated late pressure of its own in a 0-0 draw on the road at UConn.

In the first half of play, the Huskies tallied 13 shots, forcing four saves by Butler goalkeeper Addison Ash. The Bulldogs reversed the trend after the break, outshooting the Huskies 8-5 and denying the host team any shots on goal.

With the result, Butler is now 7-4-5 and 2-2-4 in BIG EAST competition while UConn moves to 3-4-9, 1-2-5 in conference play.

Butler entered tonight's match in a four-way tie for the fourth position in the BIG EAST standings. Creighton's win over Georgetown moved the Bluejays into the fourth spot alone with 11 points. With all results in for the night, Butler and Seton Hall are now in the fifth spot with 10 points, and Providence and Georgetown are in sixth, one point back. In pivotal contests Saturday, Butler and Providence will square off in Rhode Island while Georgetown travels to UConn and Seton Hall hosts Creighton.
